Style Copycat: Pumps with Bare Legs

Jag har haft den översta bilden sparad i min inspirationsfolder i ett eller två år nu, jag minns ej exakt hur länge. Men jag tycker forfarande att den är lika fin! Jag gillar hur hon kombinerar sina pumps med bara ben och även håller en intressant balans av ej för finklädd eller avslappnat klädd genom att addera militärjackan till outfiten. Och halsbandet är även det väldigt fint! Jag tror att fotot är ifrån bloggen Anywho.

Jag provade själv att ha pumps till bara ben häromdagen och jag gillade det. Och nu när temperaturen börjar falla här i Stockholm tycker jag att att det är ett bra sätt att klä sig i övergången mellan sommar och höst. De pumps jag har på mig var förresten ett verkligt fynd! Jag fann dem i en reahög på Stadsmissionen vid Nytorget för bara 50 kr för 2,5 år sedan. Jag kände att jag hade stor tur att hitta fina mockapumps ifrån Rizzo i exakt min storlek. Och stilen verkar fortfarande vara trendriktig, jag har sett flera liknande modeller den senaste säsongen, t ex In Wears version. 

I've had the first pic in my inspiration folder for a year or two, I can't remember exactly how long, anyhow I still think it's just as fab! I love the way she combines her pumps with bare legs and keeps an interesting balance of not too fancy nor casually dressed by adding that military jacket. And the necklace is fab too! I believe the pic is from the Anywho blog.
I did a take on the style because I think it's a nice way to dress into the transitional weather we have right now in Sweden when fall is slowly approaching. My pumps were a real steal btw. I found them in a vintage store 2,5 years ago in the sales bin for only 50 SEK. I felt really lucky to find a pair of nice Italian made suede pumps in exactly my size. And they still seem to be in vogue, I've seen several takes on suede pumps this last season, e.g. In Wear's version. 

Veckans Inspiration

Fina Lotte ifrån The Style Cavalry visar på tidningen Eurowomans hemsida upp denna veckas shoppingfynd. Här har hon på sig en tröja ifrån COS och en kjol ifrån H&M. Jag måste definitivt ta en närmare titt på kjolen i butik!

Detta foto på den danska väskdesignern Yvonne Koné hittade jag på Fedtys blogg. Det är ifrån en tillställning  i veckan och hon har på sig skor ifrån sin första skokollektion som kommer att lanseras nästa år. Är inte skorna perfekta? Både stilrena och coola. Jag tror de skulle passa perfekt till kjolen ifrån H&M ovan. Hennes egen outfit är såklart även den oklanderlig.

I found this photo on Fedty's blog. It's of the Danish bag designer Yvonne Koné, who'll be releasing her first shoe collection next year. Here's she's wearing her own design, and aren't the shoes just perfect? Classic and cool. I think they'd be the perfect companion to the H&M skirt above. Her own styling is impeccable as well.

Henrik Vibskov S/S13

Enligt min blogglista på höger ytterkant kan man se att några av mina personliga favoritbloggar är danska, väldigt många av dem faktiskt. Jag tycker även att dansk kläddesign är inspirerande, där det finns en konstrast mellan de mer klassiska och de mer streetwear-inpirerade danska designerna. Jag tycker att de sistnämnda ofta har en lite mer vågad och rolig design än den svenska motsvarigheten, och även om jag vet att svenskar ibland finner den danska stilen "clownaktig" tycker jag det är roligt att se på. Henrik Vibskov är ett bra exempel på detta, och när jag nyligen tittade igenom visningarna på  Köpenhamns S/S13 modevecka var hans kollektion min favorit. Ovanför är några av mina favoritoutfits, vilka jag tycker är väldigt bärbara med! Jag skulle kunna se mig själv i dessa ovanstående outfits rakt av (men nog minus skorna och antagligen hatten med)! 

Vibskovs show kallades för 'The Transparent Tongue', och det var verkligen en show! Den prickiga saken till vänster i fotona representerade den faktiska "tungan", vilken hade dansare inuti som fick den i rörelse. Det går att skådas i videon här. Detta kanske låter väldigt annnorlunda för en modevisning, men Vibskovs visningar är kända för att samtidigt vara både mode och konstinstallation. Vilket ger dem en särskilt spännande atmosfär skulle jag säga. 

Efter att ha titttat igenom bilderna började jag tänka på Erykah Badu och hennes stil, och särskilt hennes förkärlek till att bära hatt. Vad tycker ni när ni jämför med bilderna nedan? Kan kanske Erykah ha varit till inspiration för Henrik Vibskov? 

By the look of my blog list on the far right, you can tell that some of my favourite bloggers are Danish. Most of them actually. I find Danish fashion design very inspiring as well, with a contrast between the classic and conservative look and the young street wear inspired style. I often find it to be a bit more risky and fun than Swedish fashion design in general, and Henrik Vibskov is a prime example of that. When I looked through the recently held S/S13 shows his was my favourite, and above are some of my favourite looks! Truly inspiring and very wearable as well! I could see myself in all the women's wear looks above (minus the shoes). 

The show was named 'The Transparent Tongue' and it was a show in its true meaning. The dotted figure to the left in the photos was the actual 'tongue' which was moving around due to the dancers inside of it. You will get a clearer view of what I'm talking about in the video here. This might sound all odd for a fashion show, but the Henrik Vibskov shows are renowned for being part fashion and part art. Which give them an especially interesting nerve I'd say.

After going through the pictures I couldn't help thinking about the singer Erykah Badu and her style and especially her affinity for wearing hats. What do you think when looking at the pictures below? Are you with me when I say that I think that Erykah might be Henrik Vibskov's muse?

Girls With Style

Två fina foton på två olika tjejer, vilka bägge råkar vara svenskar och arbeta med PR och mode. Jag blev inte förvånad när jag fick reda på att den första bilden är på Lina Borgenbring, vilken enligt mig är en av Sveriges mest stilsäkra bloggare. Andra bilden är på Josefina Boston, vars blogg jag tycker om att läsa för att få en dos av min favoritstad London, mode och karriärsambitioner.

Jag älskar svarta kjolar med slits, det är väldigt 90-talsretro. Enligt mig är den oväntade accessoaren som tar dessa outfits till nästa nivå det breda bältet. Jag tycker också det är intressant att två personer på två olika platser (Stockholm respektive London) kan klä sig så likt varandra. Jag antar att det måste vara vad som kallas för zeitgeist. Det första fotot är taget tre månader (april i år) före det ändra (juli) dock. 

Two cool photos of two cool ladies, who both happen to be Swedish and work with fashion and PR. I wasn't surprised when I found out that the first pic is of Lina Borgenbring, who in my opinion is one of Sweden's most stylish bloggers. The other pic is of Josefina Boston, whose blog I like to read to get a dose of my favourite city London, fashion and career ambition.
I love black skirts with a slit, it's very retro 90's fashion. To me, the unexpected accessory that brings these outfits to another level is the wide belt. I think it's interesting to see too, how people at two different places (Stockholm and London respectively) can dress so alike. I guess it must be what you call zeitgeist. The first photo was taken three months (April this year) prior to the second one (July) though. Just to give credit where credit's due.

Att jag hade en trilogi på gång... Jag har följt bloggen I'm The Only One On My Street en tid och personen bakom den, Larry B, är också en av personerna bakom sidan Work It, där jag hittade denna snygga t-shirt. Om jag inte såg ut som en trettonåring i t-shirts med tryck skulle jag göra trycka på beställa. Bägge bloggar ger massor av inspiration om man gillar 90-talsstil, med mängder av foton på supermodeller och kända människor ifrån den eran, m.m. Jag nämnde Larry B i ett tidigare blogginlägg, och jag gillar fortfarande det han sa om att ej stressa angående kläder, mer om detta i mitt nästa blogginlägg...

I had a trilogy going on... I've been following the blog I'm The Only One On My Street for a while and the guy behind it, Larry B, is also a contributor to the site Work It, from where I found this smashing t-shirt. If I didn't look like a preteen in printed t-shirts I'd go for it. Both sites serve as massive sources of inspiration if you're into 90's style, with lots of photos of the supermodels and celebrities of that era, etc.  I mentioned Larry B in an earlier blog entry, and I still think of what he said about not stressing about clothes, more about that in my next post...

Wishlist for Sale Season

Jag tycker den här kappan ifrån InWear är så oerhört snygg, pga enkelheten, det markerade oket och det lätta materialvalet, vilket gör den perfekt helt enkelt, och jag skrev om den redan här!
Men konstigt nog har jag ej sett den i butik, och på hemsidan finns bara en variant utan ärmar. Det enda stället jag har sett kappan på är på B56, därifrån bilderna kommer (superfin styling btw!). Vilket är så synd, för det gör chanserna minimala att jag ska kunna prova den irl och hitta den på rea... Jag förstår ej hur de tänker på InWear; när jag tittade igenom deras visning SS 12 tyckte jag att det fanns en del fina plagg och att deras stil såg mer ungdomlig ut än vad jag förknippar dem med, men när jag har varit inne i två butiker här i Stockholm såg det inte särskilt intressant ut dessvärre. Vet de inte om att enkla trenchcoats är högsta mode, och att Minimarkets variant säljer som smör i solen, och att vi (eller jag då) verkligen behöver en lätt kappa och vi (eller ja, jag då) är så trötta på den vanliga klassiska varianten av en trenchcoat? För jag tycker att klassiker ofta är tråkiga, men att klassiker med en liten twist är en helt annan sak!

I think this trench coat from InWear is incredibly nice! I like its simplicity, the accentuated yoke and the light material, and I already wrote about a while ago!
But oddly enough I haven't seen it in store here in Stockholm and on the web site there's only a version without sleeves (which isn't my style). I've only acutally seen it on B56, from where I found the pics (really nice styling btw!). Which is a real shame, because I would really like to try it on and of course find it on sale... I actually believe InWear is making a huge lost sale on this one. Don't they know that minimalistic coats are on trend and that Minimarket's similar version is incredibly popular? And also that I really could need a lightweight coat like this one and that I'm so tired of the classic looking trench coats that are so common? Ok, maybe they couldn't know that last one...  To me classics are often boring, but classics with a twist is a whole other thing!

Dräktjackan ifrån Carin Wester har jag också gillat en längre tid nu, men jag tror chanserna är ganska små att hitta den på rea då den är väldigt populär. Jag såg den i en butik i Kalmar när jag var där i februari, och jag har en återkommande dagdröm om att jag hittar den på rea där, då jag tänker att kalmariter har mer klassisk stil? Eller det är min förhoppning iallafall. Så min egoistiska uppmaning till alla spekulanter i Kalmar är; ser ni inte hur boxig jackan är? Den kommer verkligen inte att framhäva din figur på ett klassisk sätt så häng tillbaka den!
Blusen ifrån Carin Wester är också väldigt fin, den skulle jag även vilja ha! Både jackan och blusen klär snabbt upp en enkel outfit!

I've been eyeing this jacket from Carin Wester for a long time now as well, but it's of course a popular item so my chances of finding it on sale are kind of slim. I saw it in a store in my small hometown Kalmar when I was there this February, and I keep having this daydream ever since that I'll find it on sale there because I think people there might have a different style. Or that is what I hope anyway... So my selfish statement to people there is; please put it back on the rack!
The blouse from Carin Wester is really nice too! I think that both the jacket and the blouse would be great items to make a simple outfit look more smart in seconds!

Jag gillar även dessa skor ifrån COS! De påminner om ett par pumps jag har haft tidigare, men detta par har ett öppet parti och en klack som gör dem intressantare.

I also like these shoes from COS! They remind me of a pair of pumps that I use to have, but I think the heels and the cut out detail on these ones make them look more interesting.

90's Slip Dress

För ganska många veckor sedan såg jag denna klänning på Zara's hemsida och sparade den i min inspirationsfolder, och jag såg nu att den fortfarande till försäljning där. Jag tycker bilden verkligen är inspirerande, då underklädesklänning, silverfärg och de snygga skorna skriker 90-tal, vilket jag älskar. Bilden fick mig att minnas Alicia Silverstones Calvin Klein klänning i filmen "Clueless", och när jag såg trailern ovan skrattar jag återigen åt repliken 'There goes your social life", en klassiker. Jag måste se om den filmen snart, så mycket 90-talsinpiration, och jag tycker det är intressant att Brittany Murphy såg så annorlunda ut här mot vad hon gjorde senare, RIP.

I saved this photo in my inspiration folder quite a few weeks ago, it's from Zara's web shop, and it's still for sale btw. I think the photo is so inspirational, because a silver-coloured slip dress and those shoes just scream 90's fashion, which I love. This made me recall the Calvin Klein dress that Alicia Silverstone wore in the movie "Clueless". And watching the trailer made laugh again at the line 'There goes your social life', so funny. I need to see that movie again soon, so much 90's inspiration, and I think it's interesting too how different Brittany Murphy looked here compared to later on, RIP.

"The Vulnerable Warrior"

Jag läste nyligen några intressanta artiklar i e-tidskriften 'Critical Studies in Fashion and Beauty', en av dem var skriven av forskaren Patrícia Soley-Beltran och handlar om modellers egna reflektion över frågor som rollspel, viktkontroll och fotoretuschering m.m. Patrícia är själv fd modell, och bilden ovan är tagen på henne någon gång under 80-talet. Hon kallar den för "The vulnerable warrior" och skriver att hennes roll som modell ofta var att le och se mycket glad ut (tänk det glada 80-talet!), men att denna bild är tagen i slutet av hennes karriär, då hon ej kunde le längre utan få muskelspasmer. 
Jag tycker det är ett väldigt fängslande och vackert foto! (Och jag kan inte låta bli att notera hennes fina, naturliga ögonbryn, ögonbrynsfixerad som jag är!)

I recently read some interesting articles in the e-journal 'Critical Studies in Fashion and Beauty'. One of them was writen by scholar Patrícia Soley-Beltran and is about models own thoughts on issues like role playing, weight control and photoshopping etc. Patrícia is herself an ex model, and she is on the photo above, which is taken sometime during the 80s. She calls the photo "The vulnerable warrior" and writes that she often performed a very happy, smiling character during her modelling career (think the happy 80s!). But that this picture was taken at the end of her career, at a time when she was simply unable to smile without incurring into facial muscular spasms.

I think this photo is very beautiful and captivating! (And I can't help but noticing her nice and natural eyebrows, eyebrow fixated as I am!)

Style Like U!

Häromdagen hittade jag en fantastisk sida som heter Stylelikeu. Här finns mängder av videointervjuer (536 st hittills) med stilinspiratörer, där de pratar om sin personliga stil och jag tycker att skaparna bakom har fått till en bra blandning av människor! De har även andra videos på teman som garderobsbyte mellan främlingar, och personliga hängivelser; som att vissa samlar på läppstift eller ballerinaskor eller vad det nu må vara, vi dras alla till olika saker.
Jag älskar den här sidan! Jag gillar att höra människor tala engagerat om varför de klär sig som de gör och leverera smarta citat om stil. Som exempelvis Larry B ovan som säger något i stil med "Fashion isn't clothes and labels. There's no need stressing about things, it's only you that's stressing, everybody's looking like you like 'calm down & move on'. I'm interested in you and where you come from, and there's so much more in you, you're enough."

The other day I found this amazing site called Stylelikeu. On it there's loads of video interviews (536 so far) with inspirational people talking about their personal style, and I think that the creators behind this site has chosen a really nice mixture of people too! There's also other videos on themes such as 'second skin', where people exchange wardrobes with each other, and 'addictions', where people talk about why they're into lipsticks or ballet flats, or whatever their obsession is.

I love this site! I love listening to people talking with enthusiasm about why they dress like they do, and delivering clever lines about style. For example Larry B above, who says something like "Fashion isn't clothes and labels. There's no need stressing about things, it's only you that's stressing, everybody's looking like you like 'calm down & move on'. I'm interested in you and where you come from, and there's so much more in you, you're enough."

Gwyneth Paltrow for Lindex

Idag släpps kollektionen 'modern preppy' på Lindex, och snygga Gwyneth Paltrow frontar kampanjen. Jag säger som talkshow-värden Jonathan Ross 'looking good in the cheaper clothes'! Jag tycker hon ser fantastisk ut i den randiga kjolen, och jag gillar såklart att även hon måste ligga i för att se så bra ut, det inspirerar mig! 

Today Swedish Lindex is releasing the collection 'modern preppy', and beautiful Gwyneth Paltrow is fronting the campaign. Like the talkshow host Jonathan Ross, I'm saying 'looking good in the cheaper clothes'! I think she looks fabulous in that striped skirt, and of course I also really like the fact that even she has to put a lot of work into looking that good, it inspires me!

Titania Inglis AW 2012

Titania Inglis är även hon en designer med etiskt modetänkande (hon använder ekologiska eller restmaterial) som visade på New Yorks modevecka nyligen. Hon beskriver denna kollektion som grunge med inslag av medeltid, och här recenseras den som hur en vuxen Claire Danes ifrån 90-talsseriens 'Mitt så kallade liv' skulle se ut idag. Och jag kan inte låta bli att gilla det såklart, då det involverar både 90-tal och hållbart mode! Jag gillar även sminkningen starkt, att den är enkel och har den mycket fina läppstiftsfärgen i fokus.

Titania Inglis is another ethical designer (she uses organic plus dead stock materials) who showcased her collection at the NY fashion week recently. She describes the collection as grunge gone medieval, and it's also reviewed here as how a grown-up Claire Danes from the 90's tv series 'My so called life' would look like today. And I can't help but liking it of course, since it involves both ethical and 90's fashion! I also really like the makeup, that it's minimalistic with that beautiful lipstick colour in focus.

När jag ser filmer eller läser artiklar om modeindustrins smutsiga baksida med utnyttjad arbetskraft och förstörd miljö, samt alla kemikalier som finns i våra kläder blir jag väldigt missmodig. Och jag undrar om det inte finns några modeföretag som faktiskt inte vill exploatera miljö och människor, och som dessutom gör riktigt fina kläder? Därför blev jag glad när jag läste denna artikel som handlar om de bästa visningarna av etiskt mode vid NYs modevecka nyligen (med tre exempel ovan), för det var så mycket fint! Verkligen inspirerande både inifrån och ut! Jag hittade även denna lista med tips på saker att tänka på när man vill köpa kläder och medverka till en hållbar miljö.

When I see documentaries or read articles on the fashion industry's dark side, with environmental damage and exploited labour force, and all the chemicals that are found in our clothes, I get very discouraged. And I wonder where I can find ethical fashion companies that at the same time make really nice clothes? That's why I got really happy when I read this article about hot green designers at the NY fashion week held recently (three of them are pictured above) because I think their design is truly beautiful and inspiring, from the inside and out! I also found this helpful list with advice on how to contribute to a more sustainable future when buying clothes.

Nhu Duong SS12

Nhu Duong, som är designern bakom märket Nowhere (samarbetet med Elin Kling), gör även kläder i eget namn. Detta är en bild ifrån hennes SS12 visning, och jag tycker att den vävda skinnkjolen är så perfekt! Kan inte Nowhere göra en plånboksvänlig kopia av den, snälla?

Jag gillar kjolens avrundade form och minns hur jag tyckte att det var nytt och fint när Acne gjorde en kjol med liknande form för ss11. Och att jag tänkte att inspirationen måste komma av att det har varit populärt med toppar med avrundad kant ett tag före det?

Nhu Duong, who is the designer behind the brand Nowhere (in collaboration with Elin Kling), is also making collections under her own name. This is a pic from her SS12 show, and I find the woven leather skirt to be just perfect! Can't Nowhere make a budget friendly copy of the skirt, please? 

I like the skirt's curved hemline, and I remember that Acne made a skirt with a similar shape for ss11, which I found to be very beautiful and which felt new at the time. And that I also thought to myself that the shape must come from the tops with a curved hemline that came some time prior to that?

Wood Wood AW 12 igen: Jag hittade videon till visningen och ville visa den då jag gillar den avslappnade klädstilen, speciellt den lösa skjortkragen utanpå kläderna. Jag gillar även stövlarna, modellernas attityd och det faktum att de ser osminkade ut, förutom lite essentiellt nagellack. Jag tycker den makeup-fria stylingen gör att de ger ett starkt intryck.

På rodeo.net såg jag även för några dagar sedan den coola, till synes osminkade tjejen ovan. På hennes blogg fann jag att hon ibland matchar den osminkade stilen med ett mörkt läppstift, utan att se goth ut utan fashionabel, fint!
Jag minns hur jag själv ej började sminka mig till vardags förrän efter gymnasiet, för jag tänkte att om jag börjar med det vill jag nog inte sluta, vilket också stämmer nu i efterhand tycker jag, och jag ville hellre sova lite längre på morgonen då. Men faktiskt tycker jag att man kommer ganska långt osminkad med långt hår och naturliga, markerade ögonbryn, som modellerna i Wood Wood videon och tjejen ovan. Jag har själv haft mina ögonbryn på utväxt i några veckor nu, vi får se var det hela slutar...

Wood Wood AW 12 again: I found the video of the show, and wanted to post it because I like the relaxed clothing style, especially the loose collar styled on top of the clothes. I also like the boots, the attitude of the models and the fact that it looks like they're not wearing any makeup, except for some essential nail polish. I think the makeup free styling makes the look very strong.

At rodeo.net I also found the photo of the cool girl above, who seems to be makeup free as well. I noticed on her blog that she also sometimes matches her makeup free look with a dark lipstick, with the result being very beautiful and fashionable, without looking goth.

I personally didn't start wearing makeup in the weekdays until after high school, because I thought that it might be hard to quit wearing makeup daily once you start, which I later found to be true, and I rather wanted to sleep a little bit longer in the mornings back then. I actually think that long hair and natural looking and accentuated eye brows gets you pretty far when your makeup free, like the models in the Wood Wood video and the girl above demonstrate. I've let my eyebrows rest from the tweezer for some weeks now, we'll see where that will lead...

Jag gillar den här looken ifrån Wood Wood AW 12. Skjortans detaljer är fina och påminner om blocktrenden, och hela outfiten ser väl sammansatt och grunge-aktig ut tycker jag.

I like this look from Wood Wood AW 12. The details of the shirt are nice, and remind me of the block trend, and the whole outfit is put together well and has a grunge style to it, I think.

Crazy Beautiful Skirts

Nyligen skrev jag att jag vill addera mer färg och roliga plagg till min garderob, och jag tror att ett bra sätt för mig att göra detta på är att som ovan använda en mönstrad eller färgglad kjol, för då kan fortsätta att använda mig av de många grå överdelar jag redan har. Snyggt och användbart.

Den första kjolen ovan är ifrån Hope SS12, de andra är ifrån Acnes föregående höstkollektion och därför ej tillgängliga längre. Men kanske det går att hitta något mönstrat i en 2:nd hand butik? Och gula korta kjolar finns att hitta på H&M och COS. 

På Cos har de även min cardigan på rea i färgerna brunt och orange, men ej i de andra färgerna, tips.

I recently wrote that I want to add more colour and fun garments to my wardrobe, an I think using a printed or colourful skirt would be a good way for me to do so, because then I could wear it with one of the many grey tops I've already got. Beautiful and wearable.

The first skirt is from Hope SS12, the others are from Acnes past fall collection, and therefore not available anymore. But maybe you can find something similar in a 2:nd shop? And yellow short skirt are to be found at H&M and COS. At Cos they also have my cardigan on sale in the colours brown and orange at the moment, but not in the other colours, just a tip.
