Enligt min blogglista på höger ytterkant kan man se att några av mina personliga favoritbloggar är danska, väldigt många av dem faktiskt. Jag tycker även att dansk kläddesign är inspirerande, där det finns en konstrast mellan de mer klassiska och de mer streetwear-inpirerade danska designerna. Jag tycker att de sistnämnda ofta har en lite mer vågad och rolig design än den svenska motsvarigheten, och även om jag vet att svenskar ibland finner den danska stilen "clownaktig" tycker jag det är roligt att se på. Henrik Vibskov är ett bra exempel på detta, och när jag nyligen tittade igenom visningarna på  Köpenhamns S/S13 modevecka var hans kollektion min favorit. Ovanför är några av mina favoritoutfits, vilka jag tycker är väldigt bärbara med! Jag skulle kunna se mig själv i dessa ovanstående outfits rakt av (men nog minus skorna och antagligen hatten med)! 

Vibskovs show kallades för 'The Transparent Tongue', och det var verkligen en show! Den prickiga saken till vänster i fotona representerade den faktiska "tungan", vilken hade dansare inuti som fick den i rörelse. Det går att skådas i videon här. Detta kanske låter väldigt annnorlunda för en modevisning, men Vibskovs visningar är kända för att samtidigt vara både mode och konstinstallation. Vilket ger dem en särskilt spännande atmosfär skulle jag säga. 

Efter att ha titttat igenom bilderna började jag tänka på Erykah Badu och hennes stil, och särskilt hennes förkärlek till att bära hatt. Vad tycker ni när ni jämför med bilderna nedan? Kan kanske Erykah ha varit till inspiration för Henrik Vibskov? 

By the look of my blog list on the far right, you can tell that some of my favourite bloggers are Danish. Most of them actually. I find Danish fashion design very inspiring as well, with a contrast between the classic and conservative look and the young street wear inspired style. I often find it to be a bit more risky and fun than Swedish fashion design in general, and Henrik Vibskov is a prime example of that. When I looked through the recently held S/S13 shows his was my favourite, and above are some of my favourite looks! Truly inspiring and very wearable as well! I could see myself in all the women's wear looks above (minus the shoes). 

The show was named 'The Transparent Tongue' and it was a show in its true meaning. The dotted figure to the left in the photos was the actual 'tongue' which was moving around due to the dancers inside of it. You will get a clearer view of what I'm talking about in the video here. This might sound all odd for a fashion show, but the Henrik Vibskov shows are renowned for being part fashion and part art. Which give them an especially interesting nerve I'd say.

After going through the pictures I couldn't help thinking about the singer Erykah Badu and her style and especially her affinity for wearing hats. What do you think when looking at the pictures below? Are you with me when I say that I think that Erykah might be Henrik Vibskov's muse?

Den var på min önskelista nyligen, men tyvärr kändes den lite för stor på mig så till nästa gång har jag lärt mig att inte stressa utan att köpa det jag verkligen vill ha till ordinarie pris (om jag har råd...). Faktum är att jag därmed inte har köpt någonting alls i klädväg hittills i år, jag skickade tillbaka denna väska för den var såklart inte lika fin i verkligheten som i katalogen (när kommer jag lära mig?). Vilket känns lite extremt, men också bra. Det är inte så att jag har bestämt mig för att ha ett shopping-fritt år, de som tar ett sådant drastiskt beslut tycker jag verkar ha grava problem med överkonsumtion. Själv lever jag enligt devisen att vara selektiv när jag shoppar och håller samtidigt alltid ögonen öppna. Jag ser upp till sådana människor som har stil, men ej nödvändigtvis en överfylld garderob. Så tack Larry B för rådet om att ej stressa. Jag har tänkt göra några inlägg med outfits-bilder framöver, medan jag funderar på hur jag vill klä mig när jag inte längre studerar utan har en större inkomst. Just nu tänker jag något i stil med dyrt, svart och dramatiskt...

It was recently on my wishlist, but unfortunately it felt a bit too big on me. Until next time I've learnt not to stress but to buy the things I really want  when I want it, and not wait for sale (if I can afford it...). The fact is that I haven't bought anything at all this year clothing-wise, I returned this bag because it wasn't as nice in real life as in the catalogue (when will I learn?). Which is a bit extreme I know. It's not that I decided not to shop anything this year, I actually believe that people who take to such drastic measures surely must be shopaholics. Personally I like to be selective when it comes to shopping and at the same time always be on the lookout. I look up to people who have a great sense of style, but not necessarily a swamped wardrobe. So thanks Larry B for the advice not to stress about clothes. I've been thinking about posting some outfit pictures in the near future, while I think about how I'd like to dress when I'm not a student anymore and have a bigger income than at the moment. Right now I'm thinking something in the lines of expensive, black and dramatic...

Feminism

Ett ämne som jag känner starkt för är feminism. Som tonåring läste jag Maria-Pia Boëthius bok 'Patriarkatets Våldsamma Sammanbrott & Varför Våldtäkt Finns', vilket gjorde intryck på mig, och nyligen läste jag om den och tycker fortfarande att den är lika bra, läs den! Den handlar bl a om den otrygghet kvinnor känner över möjligheten att bli våldtagen, något som de flesta män antagligen inte tänker på, och hur detta faktum samt rättssystemets misslyckande i våldtäktsfall bidrar till att vidmakthålla patriarkatet, m.m.

När jag läser om ojämställdhet blir jag väldigt upprörd minst sagt och jag tycker att alla machoideal och idéer om att kvinnor är si och män är så gärna kan dö ut nu vad mig beträffar, för det tror jag skulle göra oss till friare människor. Samtidigt som jag blir upprörd över ojämställdheten sporrar det mig att tala med högre ton, och att ta större plats, kanske inte så här stor plats (superbra sida!), eller det kanske skulle vara intressant att testa?

A subject I feel very strongly about is feminism. As a teenager I read a book by the Swedish feminist author Maria-Pia Boëthius, and it made a big impression on me, I recently reread it, and I still like it just as much. The book isn't translated to english though... but I can tell you that it amongst others covers the inherent fear women feel about being raped, something I guess most men don't reflect upon, and how this fear and the legal system's failure in securing women's rights in rape issue helps to sustain patriarchy. 

When I think about gender inequality I get very upset to say the least, and I think that we would be better off if all macho ideals and ideas about how men and women are different would cease, because I think that would make us all feel more free. But as I get angry, I'm also motivated to speak with a louder voice and to claim more space, maybe not this much space (a really good website about the common macho man syndrome in Stockholm's public transportation!), or maybe it would be interesting to try?

När jag ser filmer eller läser artiklar om modeindustrins smutsiga baksida med utnyttjad arbetskraft och förstörd miljö, samt alla kemikalier som finns i våra kläder blir jag väldigt missmodig. Och jag undrar om det inte finns några modeföretag som faktiskt inte vill exploatera miljö och människor, och som dessutom gör riktigt fina kläder? Därför blev jag glad när jag läste denna artikel som handlar om de bästa visningarna av etiskt mode vid NYs modevecka nyligen (med tre exempel ovan), för det var så mycket fint! Verkligen inspirerande både inifrån och ut! Jag hittade även denna lista med tips på saker att tänka på när man vill köpa kläder och medverka till en hållbar miljö.

When I see documentaries or read articles on the fashion industry's dark side, with environmental damage and exploited labour force, and all the chemicals that are found in our clothes, I get very discouraged. And I wonder where I can find ethical fashion companies that at the same time make really nice clothes? That's why I got really happy when I read this article about hot green designers at the NY fashion week held recently (three of them are pictured above) because I think their design is truly beautiful and inspiring, from the inside and out! I also found this helpful list with advice on how to contribute to a more sustainable future when buying clothes.

Non-Leather

Jag har länge letat efter en ny handväska och jag har även tänkt att jag rent etiskt sett helst vill ha en som inte är gjord av läder, se bara den gripande videon ovan så förstår ni vad jag menar...Men att jag heller inte vill ha en väska som ser ut som en dålig läderkopia, vilket ni säkert också förstår vad jag menar med... 

Efter att ha sett den fina väskan i läderimitation ovan i H&Ms katalog, kunde jag inte sluta tänka på den. Jag tycker den ser så snygg ut, och därför har jag nu beställt den, och hoppas på att den kommer att se lika fin ut i verkligheten! 

Om ni annars vet var man kan hitta fina handväskor som ej är i läder, så tipsa gärna!

I've been searching for a new handbag for some time now, and I've also been thinking that I'd rather have one that's not made by leather becase of ethical reasons, if you watch the touching video above you'll know what I mean...  But I also don't want to buy a handbag that looks like a bad leather imitation, I'm sure you also know what I mean by that... 

After seeing this nice non-leather handbag above in the H&M catalogue, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I think it looks really great and have therefore ordered it, and I'm hoping that it will be just as nice in real life! 

I'd be happy for any other advice on where to go for nice handbags in non-leather material btw!

Jag tycker den här videon är så rolig och intressant, då den visar på hur marknads-krafterna vill få oss att köpa saker, men på ett övertydligt och parodiskt sätt. Regissören Matthew Frost berättar genom denna reklam för tidningen Jalouse tänket bakom: We use a super hot chick... she should even change outfits several times during the day, no big deal, c'est la vie, bam, changed again. You could even see an actual jealous chic, the neighbour, she's all 'fuck that shit, I wanna be her'. Well dude, it's easy, just buy Jalouse and be like me, or at least be my friend or something. Jag hittade videon på den här fina bloggen.

I really like this video, because I find it both funny and interesting the way it shows how marketing forces dupes us into buying things, but in an overexplicit and parodic way. The story of stuff

När jag besökte Design Museet i Köpenhamn i somras, fastnade jag framför denna video och var tvungen att se hela, den är verkligen bra tycker jag! Den handlar om hur konsumtion har fått en allt större del i våra liv, och hur detta gick till.

Själv shoppar jag inte så mycket, utan försöker bara köpa det jag verkligen behöver och vill ha. Vilket känns bra på flera sätt, inte minst pga miljön, jag menar Aralsjön någon? 

Vi hade en föreläsning nyligen, där läraren sa att det finns en brist på textila fibrer i världen, då bomull redan odlas till maximal kapacitet, samt då olja som utgör grunden i syntetiska material ju är en ändlig resurs med stigande priser. Läraren föreslog oss att tänka nytt: att bara producera det som konsumeras då 1/3 av klädbutikers utbud reas ut, och att återanvända överblivna textilier samt att skapa och sälja andra värden än fysiska plagg. Verkligen intressant!

When I visited the Museum of Design in Copenhagen this summer, this video caught my eye and I had to see the whole thing right there, because I think it's really good! It's about the increasing importance of consumption in our lives, and how this has come about.

Personally, I don't shop that much. Instead I try to buy the things I truly need and want. Which feels good in several ways, not least because of environmental issues, I mean what about the Aral Sea?

Recently, one of our teachers talked about the shortage of textile fibers in the world. He said that cotton already is cultivated at maximum capacity, and that oil, which is the main component in synthetic textiles, of course is a finite resource with rising prices. The teacher suggested to us to think in new ways: to only produce what is consumed since 1/3 of the clothes in stores are sold on sale, and to reuse old materials, and to create and sell non-material values instead. A really interesting lecture!

Idag släpptes Versaces kollektion för H&M, vilken har kallats en 'best of Versace' av Donatella Versace. Kollektionen fick mig att minnas modet ifrån brytningspunkten mellan 80 och 90-tal, starten av supermodellernas era, samt kvinnor såsom Kate Pierson i bandet The B52's, här tillsammans med R.E.M. i videon 'Shiny Happy People' ifrån 1991. Jag vet inte vilka som är de potentiella kunderna i Sverige, men jag tycker att känslan som kläderna förmedlar stämmer in på denna musikvideo!  

Jag tycker det även är intressant när kvinnliga bloggare skriver att de är mest intresserade av herrkollektionen, för att titta på herravdelningen är något jag tenderar att glömma bort. Det vill jag bli bättre på, särskilt nu på vinterhalvåret när jag vill gå i stora stickade överdelar. 

Versace's collection for H&M was released today, and it's been called a 'best of Versace' by Donatella Versace. The collection made me recall the fashion of the late 80's and early 90's, the start of the super model era, and women like Kate Pierson of the band The B52's; here together with R.E.M. in the music video 'Shiny Happy People' from 1991. I'm not sure who the potential shoppers are here in Sweden, but for me the feeling that this collection express, is similar to the feeling I get when watching this music video!

I also find it interesting when female bloggers write that they are interested in getting pieces in the men's collection, because I personally tend to forget to look at the men's department. I want change that, especially at this time of year, when I feel like wearing oversized knitted sweaters.
