Wishlist for Sale Season

Jag tycker den här kappan ifrån InWear är så oerhört snygg, pga enkelheten, det markerade oket och det lätta materialvalet, vilket gör den perfekt helt enkelt, och jag skrev om den redan här!
Men konstigt nog har jag ej sett den i butik, och på hemsidan finns bara en variant utan ärmar. Det enda stället jag har sett kappan på är på B56, därifrån bilderna kommer (superfin styling btw!). Vilket är så synd, för det gör chanserna minimala att jag ska kunna prova den irl och hitta den på rea... Jag förstår ej hur de tänker på InWear; när jag tittade igenom deras visning SS 12 tyckte jag att det fanns en del fina plagg och att deras stil såg mer ungdomlig ut än vad jag förknippar dem med, men när jag har varit inne i två butiker här i Stockholm såg det inte särskilt intressant ut dessvärre. Vet de inte om att enkla trenchcoats är högsta mode, och att Minimarkets variant säljer som smör i solen, och att vi (eller jag då) verkligen behöver en lätt kappa och vi (eller ja, jag då) är så trötta på den vanliga klassiska varianten av en trenchcoat? För jag tycker att klassiker ofta är tråkiga, men att klassiker med en liten twist är en helt annan sak!

I think this trench coat from InWear is incredibly nice! I like its simplicity, the accentuated yoke and the light material, and I already wrote about a while ago!
But oddly enough I haven't seen it in store here in Stockholm and on the web site there's only a version without sleeves (which isn't my style). I've only acutally seen it on B56, from where I found the pics (really nice styling btw!). Which is a real shame, because I would really like to try it on and of course find it on sale... I actually believe InWear is making a huge lost sale on this one. Don't they know that minimalistic coats are on trend and that Minimarket's similar version is incredibly popular? And also that I really could need a lightweight coat like this one and that I'm so tired of the classic looking trench coats that are so common? Ok, maybe they couldn't know that last one...  To me classics are often boring, but classics with a twist is a whole other thing!

Dräktjackan ifrån Carin Wester har jag också gillat en längre tid nu, men jag tror chanserna är ganska små att hitta den på rea då den är väldigt populär. Jag såg den i en butik i Kalmar när jag var där i februari, och jag har en återkommande dagdröm om att jag hittar den på rea där, då jag tänker att kalmariter har mer klassisk stil? Eller det är min förhoppning iallafall. Så min egoistiska uppmaning till alla spekulanter i Kalmar är; ser ni inte hur boxig jackan är? Den kommer verkligen inte att framhäva din figur på ett klassisk sätt så häng tillbaka den!
Blusen ifrån Carin Wester är också väldigt fin, den skulle jag även vilja ha! Både jackan och blusen klär snabbt upp en enkel outfit!

I've been eyeing this jacket from Carin Wester for a long time now as well, but it's of course a popular item so my chances of finding it on sale are kind of slim. I saw it in a store in my small hometown Kalmar when I was there this February, and I keep having this daydream ever since that I'll find it on sale there because I think people there might have a different style. Or that is what I hope anyway... So my selfish statement to people there is; please put it back on the rack!
The blouse from Carin Wester is really nice too! I think that both the jacket and the blouse would be great items to make a simple outfit look more smart in seconds!

Jag gillar även dessa skor ifrån COS! De påminner om ett par pumps jag har haft tidigare, men detta par har ett öppet parti och en klack som gör dem intressantare.

I also like these shoes from COS! They remind me of a pair of pumps that I use to have, but I think the heels and the cut out detail on these ones make them look more interesting.

90's Slip Dress Part 2

Apropå Calvin Klein och 90-tals underklädesklänningar; jag fann detta foto ifrån 1995 med Kate Moss, Calvin Klein och Christy Turlington, självklart iklädda hans minimalistiska design, fint!

90's Slip Dress

Dress Zara

För ganska många veckor sedan såg jag denna klänning på Zara's hemsida och sparade den i min inspirationsfolder, och jag såg nu att den fortfarande till försäljning där. Jag tycker bilden verkligen är inspirerande, då underklädesklänning, silverfärg och de snygga skorna skriker 90-tal, vilket jag älskar. Bilden fick mig att minnas Alicia Silverstones Calvin Klein klänning i filmen "Clueless", och när jag såg trailern ovan skrattar jag återigen åt repliken 'There goes your social life", en klassiker. Jag måste se om den filmen snart, så mycket 90-talsinpiration, och jag tycker det är intressant att Brittany Murphy såg så annorlunda ut här mot vad hon gjorde senare, RIP.

I saved this photo in my inspiration folder quite a few weeks ago, it's from Zara's web shop, and it's still for sale btw. I think the photo is so inspirational, because a silver-coloured slip dress and those shoes just scream 90's fashion, which I love. This made me recall the Calvin Klein dress that Alicia Silverstone wore in the movie "Clueless". And watching the trailer made laugh again at the line 'There goes your social life', so funny. I need to see that movie again soon, so much 90's inspiration, and I think it's interesting too how different Brittany Murphy looked here compared to later on, RIP.

"The Vulnerable Warrior"

Jag läste nyligen några intressanta artiklar i e-tidskriften 'Critical Studies in Fashion and Beauty', en av dem var skriven av forskaren Patrícia Soley-Beltran och handlar om modellers egna reflektion över frågor som rollspel, viktkontroll och fotoretuschering m.m. Patrícia är själv fd modell, och bilden ovan är tagen på henne någon gång under 80-talet. Hon kallar den för "The vulnerable warrior" och skriver att hennes roll som modell ofta var att le och se mycket glad ut (tänk det glada 80-talet!), men att denna bild är tagen i slutet av hennes karriär, då hon ej kunde le längre utan få muskelspasmer. 
Jag tycker det är ett väldigt fängslande och vackert foto! (Och jag kan inte låta bli att notera hennes fina, naturliga ögonbryn, ögonbrynsfixerad som jag är!)

I recently read some interesting articles in the e-journal 'Critical Studies in Fashion and Beauty'. One of them was writen by scholar Patrícia Soley-Beltran and is about models own thoughts on issues like role playing, weight control and photoshopping etc. Patrícia is herself an ex model, and she is on the photo above, which is taken sometime during the 80s. She calls the photo "The vulnerable warrior" and writes that she often performed a very happy, smiling character during her modelling career (think the happy 80s!). But that this picture was taken at the end of her career, at a time when she was simply unable to smile without incurring into facial muscular spasms.

I think this photo is very beautiful and captivating! (And I can't help but noticing her nice and natural eyebrows, eyebrow fixated as I am!)

Style Like U!

Häromdagen hittade jag en fantastisk sida som heter Stylelikeu. Här finns mängder av videointervjuer (536 st hittills) med stilinspiratörer, där de pratar om sin personliga stil och jag tycker att skaparna bakom har fått till en bra blandning av människor! De har även andra videos på teman som garderobsbyte mellan främlingar, och personliga hängivelser; som att vissa samlar på läppstift eller ballerinaskor eller vad det nu må vara, vi dras alla till olika saker.
Jag älskar den här sidan! Jag gillar att höra människor tala engagerat om varför de klär sig som de gör och leverera smarta citat om stil. Som exempelvis Larry B ovan som säger något i stil med "Fashion isn't clothes and labels. There's no need stressing about things, it's only you that's stressing, everybody's looking like you like 'calm down & move on'. I'm interested in you and where you come from, and there's so much more in you, you're enough."

The other day I found this amazing site called Stylelikeu. On it there's loads of video interviews (536 so far) with inspirational people talking about their personal style, and I think that the creators behind this site has chosen a really nice mixture of people too! There's also other videos on themes such as 'second skin', where people exchange wardrobes with each other, and 'addictions', where people talk about why they're into lipsticks or ballet flats, or whatever their obsession is.

I love this site! I love listening to people talking with enthusiasm about why they dress like they do, and delivering clever lines about style. For example Larry B above, who says something like "Fashion isn't clothes and labels. There's no need stressing about things, it's only you that's stressing, everybody's looking like you like 'calm down & move on'. I'm interested in you and where you come from, and there's so much more in you, you're enough."

Frida Hyvönen "Terribly Dark"

De senaste dagarna har jag lyssnat mycket på Frida Hyvönens nya singel "Terribly Dark", och jag ser fram emot skivsläppet den 11 april! Låten får mig minnas en intervju med henne för några år sedan, där intervjuaren blev perplex när Frida på frågan om vad hon själv tycker om för musik, svarade att hon ej lyssnar på musik. Men, jag tycker att det går att märka i 80-känslan, som att hennes referens är hennes minnen av musik. Intervjun var utförd i hennes hem på landsbygden i norra Sverige, och jag tänker mig att denna låt är komponerad där en mörk vinterdag. Och låtens text och vädret den sista tiden får mig att tänka att våren i år kanske inte kommer förrän Valborg?
Jag är ett selektivt fan av Fridas musik då jag tycker att vissa låtar är lite för deppiga för min smak, men hursomhelst, i detta fall tycker jag att låten är peppande och bra (men att videon är lite väl, eh mörk)!

These last few days I've been listening a lot to Frida Hyvönen's new single "Terribly Dark", and I'm looking forward to the release of her new album on April 11th! The song makes me recall an interview with her some years back, and how perplexed the interviewer was when Frida, as a reply to the question of what music she listens to, said that she doesn't listen to music. The 80's feeling to her music makes me think that her musical references therefore might be her own memories of music. The interview was held in her home in the countryside of northern Sweden, and I can imagine that this song was composed there on a dark winter's day. And the song's lyrics and the weather lately makes me think that spring this year might not arrive until Valborg? 

I am a selective fan of Frida's music, as I think that some of her songs are a bit too blue for my taste. But anyhow, I think this song is uplifting and nice (but that the video is a bit, eh dark)!
